MEET THE FOUNDERS
Nyla Nation | Co-Founder
Nyla Nation is a communications professional specializing in media and entertainment from New York.
Fortunate to identify one of her passions early on, she was able to explore traditional and creative PR and marketing while getting her Bachelor of Arts at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. After graduating, she turned her passion into productivity while holding jobs at Viacom, NBCUniversal, Allied Integrated Marketing, FOX Broadcasting Company and more.
In her personal life, she enjoys exploring restaurants and nightlife, especially in NYC. This led her to recognize the need for The Guest List NY. The idea for the community started when she and co-founder, Tyana Mason, felt like there weren't many places in NYC that felt “for us, by us”. Taking matters into their own hands, they founded The Guest List NY to be a resource for their community in finding places and spaces that make room for their Black experiences.
Tyana Mason
| Co-Founder
Tyana Mason is an entertainment professional from New York. A graduate of the University at Albany, SUNY, Tyana holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communications and Spanish. Throughout college, she studied abroad in Santiago, Chile and worked as a Public Relations intern at Turner Broadcasting. Upon graduation, Tyana began her career as an Ad Sales Assistant at Discovery Inc. working with The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and TLC. Currently, she services the Discovery Ad Sales team as a Marketing Coordinator supporting esteemed brands like HGTV and ID.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and of course, brunch.
While being young black professionals in New York City, Tyana and Nyla faced difficulty in finding after work happy hours, brunches and social settings that fit their interests. They recognize the importance of identifying those spaces and now, along with Nyla, Tyana serves her community as co-founder of The Guest List NY.
